The Bothy, Backfell.
A two bedroomed, single storey, semi-detached cottage, which is attached to our house but completely self contained, with its own entrance and parking. Recently converted from a farm steading, the Bothy is double-glazed throughout and there is underfloor heating and radiators if required, and there is ample car parking. The Bothy is No Smoking and is not suitable for children.
One bedroom has a double bed and one with two single beds. Both rooms are newly furnished and have wardrobes and look out towards the wildlife pond and small wood beyond. The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower.
The Living-Kitchen is light and airy with French windows leading to a small outdoor “patio” area with table and chairs. There is a television, radio and cd player and comfortable sofa and chairs for you to relax in. The Kitchen/Dining end of the room has a well equipped kitchen with microwave, gas hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher as well as a dining table and chairs for up to 6 people. There are some books and board games for those quieter moments.
There is no landline phone in the Bothy, however there is a PAYG mobile available to you should you need it.
There are excellent “independent” food and other shops in both Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas, as well as supermarkets. The nearest shop is the village shop and post office in Twynholm (about 5 miles away). A fishmonger calls at Backfell on Wednesdays so good fresh fish (as well as a range of fresh fruit and vegetables) can be available on the doorstep.
The Bothy is let on a weekly basis and is available from 3.30pm on Saturday to 10.30 am the following Saturday. It may be available for short breaks of less than seven days, so please contact us if this is of interest to you. Depending on occupancy, we may also be able to vary your stay to for example a Sunday start should you wish, again please ask if this is of interest.
